Regulations and Hunting Etiquette
General Regulations-
Sportsmanship
GR 1.1 Any unsportsmanlike or unsafe conduct will not be tolerated.
Unsafe firearm handling will result in contestant being disqualified,
loss of entries, and removed from the premises. This is an automatic
one year barring.
GR 2.1 No alcoholic beverages will be consumed during an event
or prior to participating in an event. If caught doing so the competitor
will be asked to leave the grounds and all entries forfeited. Any
spectators seen drinking alcoholic beverages during the event will
be asked to leave the grounds.
GR 3.1 All hunters are required to adhere to the rules of
good sportsmanship. Intimidation motives or abusive behavior towards
any staff member will not be tolerated. Hunters who do not comply
with this requirement will receive a warning from the managing staff.
Hunters who receive more than one warning will receive a disqualification
for the remainder of the hunt.
Hunter Information
GR 4.1 All gauges of shotguns are permitted. 12, 16, 20, &
28 gauge is allowed. Shells shall be no bigger than 2-3/4", #6
shot. All guns must be cased to and from the blind.
GR 5.1 Hunters must report to the headquarters 30 minutes
prior to their scheduled field time, and must check in at their field
15 minutes prior to hunting. Hunting time will consist of 30 minutes.
All dogs must be leashed until the hunt begins.
GR 6.1 The Top Dog Event will consist of one hunter and one
dog with a 30 minute time limit. Hunters will be allowed to enter
two times. A new hunter or new dog qualifies as a new entry and is
permitted to enter 2 times.
The Brace Team Event will consist of two hunters and two dogs with
a 30 minute time limit. Same two hunters and same two dogs will be
allowed to enter 2 times. The Amateur Event will consist of one hunter and one dog with a 30 minute time limit. This is for hunters 18 years of age or under.
Dog Information
GR 7.1 Females in heat will not be allowed entry.
GR 8.1 Electronic training collars, beeper collars, and bells
are permitted. Check cords will not be allowed in the field. All dogs
will be leashed at the end of their hunt.
Field Information
GR 9.1 Fields will have mowed boundaries and visible flagging.
The will consist of natural upland bird habitat. Top Dog events will
consist of an estimated 20 acres. Brace Team events will consist of
an estimated 35 acres.
Guide Information
GR 10.1 Guides will accompany all teams into the field. The
guide's purpose will be to maintain order, alert team to the boundaries,
and keep track of the team's progress.
Stocking and Restocking of Fields
GR 11.1 Stocking of fields - First entry of the day will have
a 4 bird set in Top Dog.
Brace Team's first entry of the day will have an 8 bird set.
GR 12.1 Restocking of fields-
Top Dog- Fields will be restocked with 4 birds
Brace Team- Fields will be restocked with 8 birds.
GR 13.1 Hunters must remain in blind while field is being set.

Pointer-
Find:
Dog holds point and the hunter moves the bird. 25 pts.
Dog goes on point and moves or brings bird up. 20 pts.
Dog flushes or catches bird. 15 pts.
Bird Retrieval:
Dog delivers bird to hunters hand. 25 pts.
Dog picks bird up, does not retrieve to hunters hand. 20 pts.
Dog does not show interest in picking up bird. 15 pts.
Bird in the bag: 50 pts.
Flusher-
Find:
Dog flushed bird. 25 pts.
Dog trapped or caught bird. 20 pts.
Wild flush. 15 pts.
Bird Retrieval:
Dog delivers bird to hunter's hand. 25 pts.
Dog picks bird up, does not retrieve to hunters hand. 20 pts
Dog does not show interest in picking up bird. 15 pts.
Bird in the bag: 50 pts.
GR15.1 A safety will result in full points awarded.
